EOSC 595F – Ocean Data: Observations, Analysis, Synthesis and Communication
- 3 credit course (one semester), required of all PRODIGY students
- Curriculum covers state-of-the-art ocean data acquisition and analysis methods, with examples drawn from various disciplines
Learning Goals:
- Understand and apply the fundamental elements of robust ocean data collection (e.g. sensor calibration, drift correction, quantification of reproducibility and uncertainty)
- Apply the fundamental elements of data cleaning, filtering, quality-control and archiving
- Select and employ appropriate tools to analyze and visualize relevant ocean data sets
- Explore the interface between ocean data and numerical models
- Demonstrate how ocean observations and models can be used to inform decision making
